In a colossal shift of tone, this weeks song has been chosen due to recent events happening here in England. Cable Street is a song by folk group The Yunguns which chronicles the events of the Battle of Cable Street. This battle was one between the Blackshirts (a Fascist group lead by Sir Oswald Mosley) and the good people of London who opposed them, which saw the Londoners winning out against both the Blackshirts and the police trying to clear their path. We have seen a return of this spirit by good natured people coming out in solidarity against the most recent wave of right wing violence, and now more than ever it is important to acknowledge that we have wine this fight before, and we will win it again. No pasarán!

Tom’s song of the week – old or new just what’s being listened to
This week’s song is from your favourite artist’s favourite artist Chappel Roan. I love this song and I think you will too!
Possibly *the* queer album of the decade, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is the breakthrough powerhouse of American singer Chappell Roan. From singing about performing in gay bars (Pink Pony Club) and a cheerleader inspired anthem (Hot To Go) to missing her hometown (California), Chappell covers a range of emotions in what is one of my favourite albums I have discovered this year. Yes I am late, but better late than never.
Welcome back song of the week! I managed to keep this concept going for a year until the forum the old one was on was accidentally deleted (whoops) but now we are back and better than ever! This weeks song is Sinner by The Last Dinner Party, an indie/alternative rock band from London (where I am writing this from today). I never actively listened to TLDP until I caught part of their Glastonbury set, and while I am yet to listen to their album in full, it is certainly on the list.
