In a colossal shift of tone, this weeks song has been chosen due to recent events happening here in England. Cable Street is a song by folk group The Yunguns which chronicles the events of the Battle of Cable Street. This battle was one between the Blackshirts (a Fascist group lead by Sir Oswald Mosley) and the good people of London who opposed them, which saw the Londoners winning out against both the Blackshirts and the police trying to clear their path. We have seen a return of this spirit by good natured people coming out in solidarity against the most recent wave of right wing violence, and now more than ever it is important to acknowledge that we have wine this fight before, and we will win it again.
